How Gosal Game Reviews Help Our Players Improve

Why Do We Review Games?

At Gosal, we provide game reviews to help our players learn from their matches. One of the questions we hear most often from players and parents is, “What can I do to improve?” We believe reviewing games is one of the best ways to answer that question and provide players with clear, practical feedback about how they are performing as a team.

Our reviews look at how the players performed together as a team, while also helping each player understand how they can improve individually. By learning more about their positioning, decision-making and technique, players can see how their individual actions contribute to the team’s overall performance.

Inside a Gosal Game Review

Each game review is a simple one-page document highlighting what the team did well and the areas they can continue working on. While we are unable to review every team and every match, we select one Gosal team each week to review.

Over time, this gives our players an opportunity to reflect on their performances, better understand the game and take what they have learned into future training sessions and matches.

The Focus for the Game

The teams had two key focus areas for this friendly match:

In Futsal, always attack as a team and always defend as a team

What the Teams Did Well

Two great futsal observations:

  1. Great Futsal Control/Touches
The players showed great touches with the sole. Still sometimes players used the inside of their foot but we improved so much as a group. It was really nice to see the players are getting used to using the sole. We observed many good first touches and great execution after.

  2. Play as a team

The players did well by playing as a whole team. At times it is tempting to kick the ball in the front when you are close to the goal. But the team did well by scanning the situation and at times passing the ball back to the other players. These decision making choices were made to increase their chances of shooting a goal.

An Area to Improve

Defending Body Shape / Positioning
Be aware of the position of where you are when you are defending.

What Our Families Say

We have received some lovely feedback from parents who have found the game reviews helpful and useful. One parent told us that they go through the review together with their child, helping them both better understand what happened during the game and what the player can work on next.

For us, this is exactly what the reviews are intended to do: encourage players to reflect, create conversations about their development and give families a clearer understanding of what their child is learning. Most importantly, the reviews help players recognise both how they can improve individually and how they can contribute more effectively to their team.
